About egocounselling

My name is Caspar and I am an independent Counsellor in the Stamford and Rutland area.
On a strictly confidential basis, I see individuals and couples to help them address their concerns,
working either face to face or online.
I started egocounselling under auspice of the
British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP),
of which I'm an accredited, registered member.

Including my time in training, I have several years of experience in person-centred
counselling, which I use to discuss all different types of concerns with my clients.
I am also a Supervisor and Counselling Lecturer at Stamford College.
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked in healthcare, in management.
I have lived in the Stamford area since 2004.
Please use the tabs at the top of the page to learn more about me and egocounselling.
What is Counselling
Counselling aims to give you assistance and guidance in case of a personal, psychological problem. By getting to the core of your concern, it will help you explore possible solutions, to resolve your problem

Confidentiality
Your concerns will often relate to your most private and personal thoughts and feelings. That’s why it is important that you know that all you say and express will stay between you and me in strictest confidence. (There are a couple of exceptions, which we shall discuss)
In that way you will be able to feel safe to explore your concerns with me and discover a way of handling them best

Legal and Ethical
BACP’s ‘Ethical Framework’ is my absolute guideline for working safely, ethically and in accordance with UK Law.
Find the full Framework text on the BACP website

What former clients say...
A selection of some feedback.
Thank you to some of my clients for being so kind to send me their thoughts.

Couple, 30's, Cambridgeshire

“Counselling really helped us re-connect with each other and discuss issues we were having in our relationship that previously we had ignored. Caspar really helped us to remember how to listen to what the other person was saying and feeling and react in a positive manner. We are stronger as a couple having been through this counselling.”

Male, 35, Lincolnshire

Ever since leaving the Military I had constantly felt angry and on edge; even more so when I would hear certain sounds or find myself in certain situations and anyone in my immediate vicinity would bear the brunt of it. Since joining the Army in 2002 I had been blocking out and suppressing my feelings and bottling everything up from traumatic and stressful situations that I have experienced.

I had seen counsellors in the past with no avail, had completely dismissed it and felt it was all a waste of my time; all until I had sessions with Caspar. He created a calm and welcoming environment and has helped me to help myself. Over a number of sessions Caspar guided me through my feelings and helped me get to the root cause of my anger, and has helped me develop a good understanding of my own emotions which I have struggled with over the past 17 years.

I would highly recommend Caspar to anyone struggling with their feelings or who find it hard to open up for fear of ridicule."
Female, 53, Lincolnshire

"For decades, I was carrying around an emotional burden which I had suppressed.
As a consequence of this I had lived with Depression and Anxiety for many years but then it started to manifest itself in a physical way. I began to see Caspar shortly after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
Within a matter of weeks Caspar managed to redirect my way of thinking through objective questioning which gave me several ‘lightbulb moments’.

I am now so much better and although I am still working through some of my issues independently of Caspar, I am so grateful to him for his direction which has changed the course of my life.”

Male, 33, Lincolnshire

"I was unsure if seeing a counsellor would help, but Caspar really aided me through a tough time in my life. He provided a safe and friendly atmosphere where I felt comfortable discussing various difficult topics. The greatest benefit I found was having an independent listener to talk to and offer support."

Female, 22, Cambridgeshire

“The counselling has really helped me. I am a different person. If I ever need help again, I will want you as my counsellor"

Male, 36, Rutland

“That one moment that reality hit me, put all the puzzle pieces in place. It has really set me up not to make the same mistakes again.”
